Fall is here. Before you know it, the cold weather will be here, too. Many of those in our community will need assistance. The City of North Little Rock is hosting the Unsheltered Outreach Fair on October 21 at Riverfront Park. The purpose of the event is to share resources and services to our unsheltered community and improve the quality of life for those that need assistance. To prepare for the event we are working with the North Little Rock Police Department, The Van, and other agencies to collect supplies.
The North Little Rock Public Library System is collecting items that will be distributed at the Unsheltered Outreach Fair.
- Personal hygiene items for men and women
- Winter gloves and hats
- Mosquito spray
- Small flashlights
- Hand warmers
- and Other travel-sized items.
Anything not distributed at the event will be given directly to the Van for their community outreach. We’re not able to collect used items or clothing.
We’ll collect items through the end of October at both of our locations. You’ll find a drop off box in the entrance of both libraries. The Laman Library is located at 2801 Orange Street and the Argenta location is at 420 Main Street. Even small items can make a big difference.
We spoke with Aaron Reddin, Founder and Executive Director of The Van, on our Community Connections program. In this conversation, we learned many of the obstacles the unsheltered community face and several of The Van’s services. You can watch this interview below.
